Avoca Luxury Travel is a Scotland-based company focused on creating thoughtfully planned and personalised journeys across the country. Founded by Alastair Imray, the aim is simple, to offer experiences that feel considered, unhurried and genuinely reflective of what Scotland has to offer.
Hi, I’m Alastair Imray, the founder of Avoca Luxury Travel. I was born and brought up in Falkirk, right in the heart of Scotland, surrounded by its history, landscapes and everyday character. Like many people who grow up here, I did not fully realise how special it was until I spent time living abroad.
While living in Australia, I met travellers who had explored Scotland in detail, often with a deeper appreciation than I had at the time. Hearing their experiences gave me a different perspective. When I returned home, I began exploring more deliberately, not just the well-known locations, but also quieter places, less talked about routes and the stories that are not always obvious at first glance.
That change in perspective is what shaped how I approach every journey today, with a focus on helping people see Scotland in a way that feels both natural and personal.
A Personal Approach to Travel in Scotland
Alongside my interest in travel, I have spent nearly two decades running a flooring and property business. That experience taught me the importance of being reliable, paying attention to detail, and delivering a level of service that people can genuinely depend on. Those same values now guide how I plan each journey.
There is a quiet depth to Scotland. You notice it in the scenery, the history and the culture. I try to reflect that in every itinerary I create, shaping Scottish experiences that feel both personal and authentic. From well-known landmarks to quieter, lesser-known corners, I want people to see the country in a way that feels genuine and lasting, and to take away unforgettable Scottish moments that stay with them long after they return home.
I now live just outside Glasgow with my wife, Susan and our two sons, Josh and Lewis.
